Interfaith Latin Ties

Interfaith Latin interactions are a growing tendency and it is crucial for people to comprehend their partner’s religious/spiritual ideals and customs shortly in the partnership. It can also be helpful to discuss how you plan on raising your children and what religious/spiritual values you want them to had so that there is no uncertainty or discord down the road.

A number of studies have shown that a large percentage of Latin Americans are Christians (90 % ), mostly Catholics, with significant proportions of Protestants and indigenous creeds. Some of the most dominant Evangelical churches include Pentecostalism and Evangelicalism, with an increasing occurrence in states like Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. In contrast, the majority of the inhabitants in most Latin American countries practice standard Catholic beliefs and rituals and in some cases Afro- Latin American beliefs such as Santeria, Candomble, Macumba and another cultural voodoo religions.

In light of this truth, Latino lesbian theologians have highlighted that for many Latinas/os religious techniques create contexts for religious beliefs that function independently of Catholic Church structure. Findings from this study reaffirm that for many Latinas/os, enduring social ideals such as personalismo and simpatico allow them to interact with The king through their exclusive relationships with friends or loved ones, mother character, and the society. They believe that the good sense of God’s presence empowers them to overcome personal and family hardships and work for social change. The study provides further evidence that these Latino cultural values can support the emergence of diverse spiritual perspectives among Latinas.
